Forex - Weekly outlook: 10.22 - 10.26

The Federal Reserve (FED) meeting last week was unexpectedly hawkish, causing large fluctuations in the market. At the same time, in the Brexit negotiations, there was no substantial progress in the EU summit last week, and we still need to pay close attention this week.
In terms of economic data, the focus is on US durable goods orders and new home sales data for September, as well as the US third-quarter GDP report and personal consumption expenditure price index. At the same time, the euro zone will announce the initial value of the October consumer confidence index and the initial value of the October Markit manufacturing PMI.
In terms of central bank dynamics, the Bank of Canada, the European Central Bank, the Swedish central bank, and the Russian central bank will all announce interest rate resolutions this week, and the Bank of Japan will hold a meeting on market operations.
In terms of official speeches, European Central Bank President Mario Draghi will hold a press conference this week. Bank of England Governor Carney will deliver a speech at the University of Toronto, Canada. Bank of Canada Governor Poloz will hold a press conference, Chairman of the Clerland Fed Mestre also gave a speech.
Godbole believes that gold has repeatedly failed to close above the 100-day moving average and may be seen as a sign of exhaustion. Therefore, gold may be slightly adjusted back to the 10-day moving average in the future, but this market callback may not last long because of market sentiment. This is evident from the fact that although the Fed has stated that it will introduce a more stringent monetary policy, the price of gold is still stable near the 100-day moving average.
In addition, the technical side is biased towards bullishness. For example, the 5-week and 10-week moving averages regained action, the first time since the last week of December 2017.
