The fed expects to raise rates twice more this year and is expected to move at its September and December meetings, which have press conferences. The FOMC raised rates by 25 basis points in March and in June, leaving rates currently in a range of 1.75-2 per cent.
Inflation and sales data were weak last week, though expectations for a 25-point interest rate rise on August 2 were around 70 per cent last week, before sterling rebounded on the improved sentiment.
Bank of Japan governor haruhiko kuroda lowered his forecast for the full year of 2018 to 1.1% from 1.3%. Cut 2019's 1.8% to 1.5%; Cut 2020's 1.8 percent to 1.6 percent.
